Jaekel House

Jaekel House is a historic colonial mansion located in Ebute Metta, Lagos, Nigeria, built in 1898 and named after Francis Jaekel, a former superintendent of the Nigerian Railway Corporation. This two-storey building has been transformed into a mini museum showcasing a rich collection of photographic archives and artefacts from Nigeria's railway history, particularly from the 1940s to the 1970s. Managed by Legacy1995, the site not only preserves the legacy of Nigeria's early railway system but also advocates for the conservation of Brazilian architectural heritage. Jaekel House is a popular venue for fairy tale weddings and has been featured in films and music videos. The site recently celebrated World Tourism Day 2024 with a variety of cultural activities, attracting over 100 attendees to explore its historical significance and enjoy traditional performances.
