Goddard Chapel (Tufts University)

Goddard Chapel, constructed in 1883, serves as the main religious building at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. Designed in the Lombard Romanesque style by J. Phillip Rinn, the chapel features a striking hundred-foot bell tower and a cloister. Its interior boasts ribbed ceilings, arched woodwork, and exquisite stained glass windows created by artist Tommaso Juglaris, allowing ample light to illuminate the space. Originally funded by Mary Goddard in memory of her husband, the chapel has evolved to host a variety of services and events, including Protestant services, Catholic mass, and cultural ceremonies. A major restoration in 2002 preserved its historic charm while modernizing its facilities, making it a significant site for both worship and community gatherings.
