Old State House

Built in 1713, the Old State House served as the seat of Massachusetts' colonial and provincial government. The Boston Massacre occurred on the street outside the building on March 5, 1770. On July 18, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was read to Bostonians from the building's east balcony.
