Occupy Boston encampment at Dewey Square (South Station)

In October 2011 protesters affiliated with the Occupy movement established an encampment in Dewey Square outside South Station and near the Federal Reserve Bank, sustaining it through the winter. The encampment hosted protests and public events and resulted in periodic arrests; city authorities cleared the site and removed tents in January 2012. The location remains adjacent to South Station, a major transportation hub in Boston.
