Old Dominion University Fieldhouse

The Old Dominion University Fieldhouse was a notable 5,200-seat multi-purpose arena in Norfolk, Virginia, that served as the home for the Old Dominion Monarchs and Lady Monarchs basketball teams from 1970 until 2003. It hosted significant collegiate basketball events, including the final game of the ECAC Southern Region tournament in 1977, and briefly accommodated the Virginia Squires of the ABA. Beyond sports, the venue was a cultural hub, featuring concerts, such as a performance by Frank Zappa in 1980. The Fieldhouse was demolished in 2006, and its site is now occupied by the ODU Recreation and Wellness Center, which offers extensive fitness facilities.
