Lake City Community Memorial Building

The Lake City Community Memorial Building, located in Lake City, Iowa, is a historic Neoclassical structure dedicated to honoring those who served in the American Civil War, the Spanish–American War, and World War I. Built by the Lake City Civic Improvement Society, this two-story brick building features a main auditorium with a capacity of 750, along with various rooms for community use. Notable architectural elements include three limestone panels inscribed with 'Soldiers,' 'Sailors,' and 'Marines,' and inscriptions of significant battlegrounds above the entrance doors. Recognized for its historical significance, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990, making it a meaningful site for both tourists and researchers interested in local history and civic engagement.
