Texas State Capitol

The Texas State Capitol building at this site was completed in 1888 and serves as the seat of the state government. It was constructed largely from sunset red granite quarried near Marble Falls and Burnet County. The building's dome rises to 308 feet, making it taller than the U.S. Capitol. The Capitol and its grounds are open to public tours and contain historic legislative offices and monuments.
