Spring Creek Meeting House-H Street Mission

The Spring Creek Meeting House-H Street Mission, located in Oskaloosa, Iowa, is a historic site that reflects the evolution of Quaker communities in the region. Originally built after a fire in 1878, the building was relocated to its current site in 1895, symbolizing the transition of Quakers from rural areas to urban centers. Established in 1844, it served as a mission for the Oskaloosa Monthly Meeting, showcasing the evangelical efforts of the Iowa Yearly Meeting following the Schism of 1877. Architecturally, it marks a shift from traditional low structures to a design featuring a high-pitched gable roof. Although the building has since been demolished, it was recognized for its historical significance by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
