United States Capitol access restrictions

The United States Capitol at 1 First Street SE is the meeting place of the U.S. Congress and is a secured federal complex. Public entry is routed through the Capitol Visitor Center where visitors undergo security screening before tours; members' offices, private corridors, and many committee rooms remain restricted to members, staff, or escorted visitors. The U.S. Capitol Police are responsible for enforcing access controls and maintaining security on the Capitol grounds.
