The Hilton Athens, originally opened in 1963 as the city's first international chain hotel, is undergoing a major redevelopment and is set to reopen in 2026 as The Ilisian. Located on Vassilissis Sofias Avenue, it will feature the Conrad Athens hotel with 278 luxury rooms and exclusive residences under the Conrad and Waldorf Astoria brands. Historically significant, the hotel has hosted notable guests like Aristotle Onassis and Frank Sinatra, and served as the headquarters for the International Olympic Committee during the 2004 Summer Olympics. The new design will include modern amenities, a restaurant, a rooftop bar, and a spa, making it an attractive destination for tourists and researchers alike.
