Fort Point National Historic Site

Fort Point, located beneath the Golden Gate Bridge, is a masonry fort constructed between 1853 and 1861 to defend the entrance to San Francisco Bay. It served during the Civil War period, survived the 1906 earthquake, and is now administered by the National Park Service as a historic site open to the public. The fort interprets coastal defense history and offers views of the bridge, bay, and the Presidio.
