Gum Wall (Post Alley)

The Gum Wall is a brick wall in Post Alley near Pike Place Market that has been covered in used chewing gum by visitors and locals. The practice began in the early 1990s when theatergoers from the nearby Market Theater started sticking gum to the wall, and it developed into an informal community art attraction. The city cleaned the wall in November 2015, and the gum subsequently reappeared as visitors continued to affix gum.
