Conference House (Billop House)

The Conference House in Tottenville, Staten Island is a late-17th-century house best known as the site of a 1776 peace conference between British and American representatives that failed to end hostilities. Also called the Billop House, it is one of Staten Island's oldest surviving buildings and was used for varied civic and private purposes over the centuries. The house is preserved as a historic house museum within Conference House Park and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
