Bank of England Building, Liverpool

The Bank of England Building, a Grade I listed structure located on Castle Street in Liverpool, is a remarkable example of Neoclassical architecture designed by Charles Robert Cockerell between 1845 and 1848. Established as part of the city's financial center, it features Greek, Roman, and Renaissance elements, highlighted by its four Doric columns. The building served the Bank of England until 1987 and has since had various uses, including a brief occupation by activists in 2015. In 2024, it was transformed into a brasserie by the Ivy restaurant group, making it a notable destination for both tourists and researchers interested in Victorian architecture and Liverpool's financial history.
