Soldiers' and Sailors' Arch (John H. Duncan; sculptures by Frederick MacMonnies)

The Soldiers' and Sailors' Arch at the center of Brooklyn's Grand Army Plaza was designed by architect John H. Duncan and completed in 1892 as a Civil War monument. The arch includes sculptural groups by Frederick MacMonnies and inscriptions honoring Union soldiers and sailors. It functions as a major civic monument and landmark at the entrance to Prospect Park.
