Massachusetts State House

Completed in 1798 and designed by architect Charles Bulfinch, the Massachusetts State House serves as the seat of the state government and houses the offices of the governor and the Massachusetts General Court. Its gilded dome, visible atop Beacon Hill, has been re-covered and regilded several times since its construction. The building faces the Boston Common and is a central landmark in the Beacon Hill historic district.
