Urjans Iverson House

The Urjans Iverson House is a historic log cabin located in Gilchrist Township, Minnesota, built in 1866 and restored in 1990. Nestled within Fort Lake Johanna Roadside Park, this cabin is significant for its role in the early settlement of Pope County and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Originally constructed by Norwegian immigrant Urjans Iverson using logs from a nearby abandoned army outpost, the cabin served as the first schoolhouse and a venue for church services in the area.
