Palace and Majestic Theaters

The Palace and Majestic Theaters, located in downtown Bridgeport, Connecticut, are historic venues built in 1921-22 by theater mogul Sylvester Z. Poli. Designed by renowned architect Thomas W. Lamb, these opulent theaters were once vibrant centers for vaudeville and film, with a combined seating capacity of over 6,000. The complex features a striking Beaux Arts exterior and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1979. Despite their decline and closure in the 1970s, efforts to restore these architectural gems continue, making them a point of interest for both tourists and researchers exploring the history of American theater.
