Girard College Founder's Hall

Founder's Hall at Girard College was built in the 1830s–1840s to serve as the central building of a boarding institution established under Stephen Girard's will; it was designed in part by architect Thomas U. Walter. The complex's formal courtyards, dormitory wings, and chapel reflect 19th-century institutional and educational infrastructure on a large urban campus. Girard College's Founder's Hall has remained a prominent example of long-standing educational architecture and campus planning in Philadelphia.
