California Academy of Sciences (Renzo Piano building)

The California Academy of Sciences was founded in 1853 and is one of the oldest institutions of its kind in the United States. Its current Renzo Piano–designed building in Golden Gate Park opened in 2008. The complex houses the Steinhart Aquarium, the Morrison Planetarium, and the Kimball Natural History Museum, and features a planted "living roof" visible from the park.
