Metronome / The Passage (Union Square)

Metronome is a large public art installation by Kristin Jones and Andrew Ginzel installed on the south side of Union Square in 1999. The work includes a prominent digital time display often referred to as 'The Passage' that presents a 24-hour numeric display across a brass-and-glass facade. The installation combines sculptural and mechanical elements and has been a frequent subject of public commentary and photography since its unveiling.
