Fisk Jubilee Singers (Fisk University)

Formed at Fisk University in 1871 to raise funds for the school, the Fisk Jubilee Singers toured the United States and Europe and helped popularize African American spirituals internationally. Their tours raised money that was crucial to Fisk University's survival in its early years. Many of the group's early performances and rehearsals were held on the Fisk campus and in its chapel.
