Botherum

Botherum is a historic house located in Kentucky, built between 1850 and 1851 by architect John McMurtry for Madison C. Johnson as a tribute to his late wife, Sally Ann. This unique structure showcases a blend of Greek, Roman, and Gothic architectural styles, reflecting McMurtry's influence in the region. The estate originally spanned 36 acres and features a notable ginkgo tree, a gift from Henry Clay. Over the years, the property has changed hands, with significant alterations made, including a high stone wall added in the 1980s. Botherum gained recognition when it was featured in Southern Living magazine in 2017, highlighting its historical significance and architectural beauty.
