Center City Commuter Connection (Regional Rail tunnel)

The Center City Commuter Connection is the underground Regional Rail tunnel that links 30th Street Station with Suburban Station and Jefferson Station beneath downtown Philadelphia. Completed and placed into service in 1984, it allowed previously separate Pennsylvania Railroad and Reading Company commuter services to run through Center City. The tunnel enabled through-running of commuter trains across the city and altered Regional Rail operations and passenger patterns in Philadelphia.
