Bride's Hill

Bride's Hill, also known as Sunnybrook, is a historic plantation house located near Wheeler, Alabama. This significant example of Tidewater-type architecture was built by a member of the Dandridge family, relatives of Martha Washington. The house features a unique design with a broad central hall, a graceful stairway, and a deep cellar with a basement kitchen. It was added to the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1985 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. Although it has been unoccupied since the 1980s and is in disrepair, Bride's Hill remains an important representation of early Alabama architecture, showcasing the colonial influences brought by settlers from Virginia.
