El Cortez – historic downtown casino (opened 1941)

El Cortez opened in 1941 on Fremont Street and is recognized as one of the oldest continuously operating casino-hotels in Las Vegas. The property has retained much of its mid-20th-century character while operating as an active downtown casino and hotel. El Cortez has been a notable landmark in the development of downtown Las Vegas's gaming and hospitality history.
