Härnösand Residence

The Härnösand Residence, located in central Härnösand, Sweden, serves as the formal residence of the county governor of Västernorrland County. Built between 1785 and 1790, it is one of the earliest examples of Neoclassical architecture in Sweden, designed by architect Olof Tempelman. The building features a sober façade with a giant order of pilasters, influenced by ancient Roman and Italian Renaissance architecture, particularly that of Andrea Palladio. The residence has undergone several renovations, notably in the 1920s and early 2000s, preserving its historical elements while updating its interior.
