Sunny Jim Sea Cave (La Jolla Sea Caves)

La Jolla's sea caves are carved into the sandstone cliffs along the coast, with Sunny Jim being the best-known sea cave in the group. Sunny Jim is notable for being one of the few California sea caves accessible from land via a man-made tunnel and steep staircase through the Cave Store (commonly cited as 145 steps). The sea caves lie within the La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve and attract kayakers, snorkelers, and boat tours. Several other sea caves in the same cliff system are frequently visited by guided kayak trips from the area.
