Punchbowl Mosque

Punchbowl Mosque, located in the suburb of Punchbowl in Sydney, Australia, is a striking architectural landmark designed by Greek-Australian architect Angelo Candalepas. Notable for its large central dome and 102 smaller domes adorned with Islamic calligraphy of the 99 names of Allah, the mosque showcases a unique blend of modern design and traditional elements. The construction of the mosque began in 1996, but faced a lengthy approval process of 17 years due to local government objections and other challenges. Completed in 2018, it was awarded the Sir John Sulman Medal, highlighting its significance in the architectural landscape of New South Wales.
