Timken Museum of Art (Balboa Park)

The Timken Museum of Art, located in Balboa Park, opened in 1965 and houses a small but notable collection of European old master paintings, American art, and Russian icons. The museum is known for its intimate galleries and free admission policy since its founding endowment was established by the Putnam sisters in memory of the Timken family.
