Ahmed Bey Palace

Ahmed Bey Palace, a historic royal palace located in Constantine, Algeria, was commissioned by Ahmed Bey ben Mohamed Chérif and completed in 1835. This architectural marvel features three suites, a lush garden with orange and palm trees, and is adorned with 266 marble columns, three courtyards, and two marble fountains. The palace's intricate design includes 540 cedar wood doors, each uniquely inscribed and engraved. The walls boast over 2,000 square meters of paintings that illustrate Ahmed Bey's extensive travels across the region. Once a royal residence, the palace later served as a French headquarters and is now a significant cultural landmark, celebrated during Constantine's designation as the Arab Capital of Culture in 2015.
