The Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar at the Fairmont

The Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar, opened in 1945 inside the Fairmont Hotel, is a historic tiki bar notable for its central indoor lagoon with a floating bandstand and periodic artificial 'rainstorms' used during performances. It is one of the few surviving mid-20th-century themed tiki bars that retains its original theatrical water-and-light effects. The space has been designated a San Francisco landmark for its cultural and architectural significance.
