Carnegie Library at Mount Vernon Square

The Carnegie Library at Mount Vernon Square, completed in 1903 as Washington's first public library building, is a prominent Mount Vernon Square landmark that has housed multiple civic uses over the decades. Following restoration, part of the building reopened in 2019 as the Apple Carnegie Library while also providing exhibition and community spaces through partnerships with local organizations. The restored building preserves historic architectural features and continues to serve as a cultural and public gathering place in the neighborhood.
