Spreckels Organ Pavilion (John D. Spreckels)

Entrepreneur John D. Spreckels donated the Spreckels Organ to the City of San Diego and funded the construction of the outdoor Spreckels Organ Pavilion, which was dedicated in 1914. The pavilion in Balboa Park houses a large pipe organ (originally 4 manuals and thousands of pipes) and continues to host free public organ concerts. The site is historically associated with Spreckels' civic philanthropy in early 20th-century San Diego.
