Ritz Theatre & Museum (LaVilla)

The Ritz Theatre & Museum opened in 1929 as a movie palace and vaudeville house and later became a cultural center for Jacksonville’s LaVilla neighborhood. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the LaVilla Historic District. Local ghost tours and newspaper accounts recount reports of unexplained sounds and sightings within the theatre, and these stories are part of its contemporary public narrative; such accounts are anecdotal and debated.
