Distinction Christchurch Hotel, located in the heart of Cathedral Square, is a five-star hotel that reopened in March 2018 after extensive repairs following the devastating 2011 Christchurch earthquake. Originally known as the Millennium Hotel, it has a rich history marked by resilience and transformation. The hotel features 179 rooms and has served various purposes, including as a managed isolation facility during the COVID-19 pandemic. A notable highlight is the 2025 addition of a massive 13-storey mural by artist Jacob Ryan, making it the largest mural in New Zealand, adding to the cultural landscape of Christchurch.
