Couper Institute Library

The Couper Institute Library, located in Cathcart, Glasgow, is a historic public library established in 1923 as an extension of the original Couper Institute built in 1887. Designed in an English Baroque style by architect J A T Houston, the library was funded by local paper mill owner Robert Couper, who bequeathed approximately £8000 for its construction. The library is a category B listed building, recognized for its architectural significance. After a temporary closure during the Covid-19 pandemic, a local campaign successfully led to its reopening in 2022, making it a valuable resource for both tourists and researchers interested in Glasgow's cultural heritage.
