The Manse is a historic church manse located in Northampton, Massachusetts, with origins dating back to 1744. This two-story wood-frame structure showcases vernacular mid-18th century architecture, featuring a gambrel roof and distinctive dormers. The property has a rich history, initially part of a land grant to Reverend Solomon Stoddard, a key figure in the area's early religious community. Notable residents include Jonathan Edwards, a prominent preacher, and writer Josiah G. Holland. The house was restored in 1940 by Dorothy Douglas, a Smith College professor, who also commissioned beautiful murals by artist Oliver Larkin. The Manse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in American history and architecture.
