Boston Athenaeum

The Boston Athenaeum occupies a granite building completed in 1849 and is one of the nation's oldest independent libraries and literary societies. Its interior reading rooms, rare book stacks, and 19th-century architectural finishes have been preserved and documented. The institution is historically associated with Boston's intellectual and architectural life on Beacon Hill.
