Palace of Fine Arts - monumental rotunda from the 1915 Exposition

The Palace of Fine Arts at the Marina was designed by architect Bernard Maybeck for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition and originally built as a temporary structure. Its classical rotunda and colonnades have been a prominent, tall visual landmark on the northern waterfront. The original was reconstructed in permanent materials during a multi-year project completed in the 1960s–1970s to preserve the site for public use.
