Cutler Majestic Theatre (Emerson College)

The Cutler Majestic Theatre at 219 Tremont Street opened in 1903 as the Majestic Theatre and was designed by Clarence H. Blackall as an ornate vaudeville and movie palace. The theatre's richly decorated Baroque- and Renaissance-inspired interior was restored in the late 20th century and it now serves as a primary performance venue for Emerson College and touring theatrical productions. The building exemplifies early-20th-century downtown Boston theater architecture and preservation-led adaptive reuse.
