Saifabad Palace

Saifabad Palace, also known as Sarvahita (G-Block), was a historic palace in Hyderabad, Telangana, built in 1885 by Mahboob Ali Khan, the sixth Nizam of Hyderabad. Once the tallest building in the city, it served as the seat of government for various states until its demolition in 2020. The palace's history is marked by superstitions, as the Nizam was deterred from occupying it due to a local conspiracy involving a Monitor lizard. Over the decades, it housed the government of the Hyderabad princely state, the state of Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Despite opposition from the public, the palace was ultimately demolished to make way for a new secretariat, reflecting the ongoing evolution of Hyderabad's architectural landscape.
