War Memorial Opera House and performing-arts history

The War Memorial Opera House is the longtime home venue for the San Francisco Opera and San Francisco Ballet and forms part of the War Memorial and Performing Arts Center. The building and its programming have anchored much of the city's classical-music and dance history and have hosted numerous premieres and high-profile performances. Its presence across from Civic Center Plaza ties it to many civic events and cultural narratives in San Francisco.
