Library of Congress - world's largest library

The Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., is the research library that officially serves the United States Congress and is the de facto national library. It is the largest library in the world by number of items and shelf space, holding more than 170 million items across books, recordings, photographs, maps, and manuscripts. The Jefferson Building is the Library's historic central building and houses public reading rooms and exhibitions.
