Johnson House - documented Underground Railroad site

The Johnson House Historic Site at 6306 Germantown Avenue was a known station on the Underground Railroad and provided shelter and assistance to freedom seekers in the 19th century. The house was owned and operated by African American abolitionists who aided fugitives escaping slavery. Today it is preserved as a museum interpreting the local Underground Railroad network and African American history in Germantown.
