Constructed by Richard Croshaw Graves, a militia commander during the American Revolution, the property is steeped in history, including local legends of Thomas Jefferson spending Christmas Eve 1771 with the Graves family before his marriage. The site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002, making it a notable destination for history enthusiasts and tourists alike.
