Grand Forks Woolen Mills

The Grand Forks Woolen Mills, located in Grand Forks, North Dakota, is a historic building designed by architect John W. Ross and constructed in 1895. This three-story brick structure played a significant role in the local economy by processing wool into cloth, eliminating the need to ship raw materials to larger cities. It was a symbol of economic independence for the region and employed up to 75 people at its peak. Although the mill ceased operations between 1901 and 1906 due to competition, the building remains a notable landmark, having been rebuilt after a fire in 1916. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers interested in local history and industrial heritage.
