The Green House, Sliema

The Green House, or Id-Dar il-Ħadra, was a historic townhouse in Sliema, Malta, known for its striking dark green façade and a Baroque niche housing a statue of the Assumption of Our Lady. Built in the late 19th century, it became a local landmark and was integral to the cultural heritage of the area. Despite its historical significance and being listed on the National Inventory of the Cultural Property of the Maltese Islands, the building was demolished in 2019 to make way for new residential developments. The niche was preserved and incorporated into the new structure, reflecting the ongoing tension between heritage conservation and urban development in Sliema.
