Farwell Building

The Farwell Building, located at 1249 Griswold Street in Downtown Detroit, is a historic commercial and residential structure recognized as a Michigan State Historic Site since 1974 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. Completed in 1915, this eight-story building showcases the Chicago school architectural style with a striking glass façade, decorative friezes, and Ionic pilasters. Notable interior features include a Tiffany mosaic ceiling and brass elevator doors. After undergoing significant renovations and changes over the decades, including a major restoration completed in 2019, the Farwell Building now houses residential units, offices, and retail space, making it a vibrant part of Detroit's urban landscape.
