Boston Public Garden and the Swan Boats

The Boston Public Garden was established in 1837 and is recognized as the first public botanical garden in the United States. The Garden's lagoon has been home to the Swan Boats since 1877, a family-operated, pedal-powered boat attraction that runs seasonally from spring through early fall. The formal Victorian plantings, the lagoon, and the Make Way for Ducklings statues are among the site's signature features.
